In a sport where 27% of players are Hispanic, MLB’s “Ponle Acento” (Put An Accent On It) campaign drove Hispanic players to embrace their heritage by adding accents, for the first time in the league, to their names on their jerseys. Soon the idea became a cultural movement that players, celebrities and fans alike joined, changing America’s pastime forever.
